Ripe for Take-Over ,The first impression was a cheerful one,
for I'm bound to say that the marchers looked care- free and happy in their tight jeans and bright sweaters—so carefree and happy that I felt genuinely sorry to have to note the preponderance of the red banners of the Young Communist League and the Communist Party proper. Up and down beside the euphoric adolescents and the relatively few older innocents went the familiar bard-faced stentors shouting their slogans : 'Ger- man bases—out !"Polaris—out 1' Anyone inter- ested in the background of all this should consult the April number of the Industrial Research and Information Service. There he will find full de- tails of the Communist-dominated Youth Peace Campaign which on March 18 held a conference to co-ordinate the activities of groups taking part in the march. Organisations represented at this cOnference included the Youth Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, the Young Socialists, the Colleges and Universities CND, and the Young Communist League. The meeting resulted in the formation of a standing committee to lay plans for Aldermaston. It was quite evident that plans had been laid-4y somebody—and I feel that the gay young people who enjoyed 'the rag should be encouraged to take a quick look at IRIS news just to see what they are getting theniselves into. Obviously 'the CND movement is just abdut ripe for' a take-Over ' bid. The odd 'banner here and !there proclaiming; 'We are against • all bombs,' looked pretty forlorn.
