LETTERS Jaded palate
Sir: It is an interesting day when your esteemed wine correspondent Mr Auberon Waugh suggests that it would be difficult to distinguish a 15-year-old shiraz or syrah from a grand cru Burgundy, or Petrus or Cheval Blanc (Wine club, 26 February). It is hard to believe that anything could ever be mistaken for either Petrus or Cheval Blanc. Is his palate now so jaded; is he trying to mis- lead you readers; or is it just that it is so long since he drank any great French wines?
