Deducting £85,292,000 from the estimated Revenue of £85,555,000, the estimated surplus for the year, without altera- tion in the taxation, would be just L263,000. Of this surplus Mr. Childers proposes to sacrifice £22,000 in reducing slightly the duties on carriages used for hire, so that his ultimate estimated surplus for the year remains at £241,000.
