Under the arches
Sir: A mini-matter in general to bother your readers with, but vital enough to me. Your Bookbuyer ' (November 11) gave a hearsay and inaccurate version of my encounter with the National Book League: Towards the end of 1971 a NBL representative talked to me about possible uses of an arch I occupy for their 'Week,' and I referred him to the GLC. Much later, the NBL produced their proposal — but too late, since, in the meantime the GLC (my patrons for over twenty years [Festival of Britain' and benevolent landlords for eighteen years) and myself had set not to plan a project which would incorporate this arch.
