NEWTS OF THE WEEK.

MITE avalanche of German Notes about the Peace Treaty shows no sign of ceasing. As a concession to this passion for writing Notes, the Allies have consented to allow Germany another week's grace. The original fifteen days came to an end on Thursday afternoon, and the German answer, under the new arrangement, must be sent in on May 29th. Count Brockdorff-Rantzau announces that six new Notes are now being drafted. These refer to the Eastern boundaries, Alsace-Lorraine, the occupied territories, reparation, Labour, and German pro- perty in foreign countries. The Germans are also preparing a general summary of their observations.
