THE UNEMPLOYED [To the Editor of THE SPECTATOR] SIR,—In an
article dealing with unemployment appearing in last week's Spectator it is stated that there are 2,000,000 men unemployed. May I point out that the returns published by the Ministry of Labour show that of the total 2,039,026 regis- tered as unemployed, 399,756 were women, 56,672 boys and 56,397 girls? The returns also show that of the total un- employed 906,000 had been out of work for less than six weeks. The number classed as temporarily stopped was 379,027.—
