don't share Mr. Taylor's objection to 'sub- sidising' public transport
out of my taxes Speaking (like him) as one of the general public I would rather my money went towards maintaining swift and safe rail transport than having to subsidise the National Health Service cost of the extra road casualties, to mention only one aspect. Half the object of all taxation is to subsidise some useful service, and I suggest that it is high time that public transport was so recognised in this country instead of being regarded as a luxury.
