Lord Charnwood says a great deal in less than half

a dozen pages in his Preface to " Sald's " When William Came (Lane. 3s. 6d.). He speaks of the spiritual danger of forgetting that in our halls is hung Armoury of the invincible . knights of old."

But " Saki's" story is "the memorial of a knight like them. It comes from the heart of one who ` gave his life that our nation might live.' " And althoUgh it tells of an:age that has-pissed -England before the War-it is both exciting and amusing.
