clergyman with a very numerous family is a property that should belong to Miss Yonge. Miss Carew, how- ever, makes good use of it, proprie communia dicit. Little "Grizzly" Fleming is a delightful creature ; Alwyn Dnmaresq is an interesting boy ; the tutor. Mr. Somerville, is drawn in a few characteristic lines ; the arbitrary Miss Dumaresq is more conventional. An interesting, well-written story is made up out of these and other materials.
