The number of people, small though their present numbers may
be, who celebrate Magna Charta Day (June 15th) throughout the English-speaking world is steadily growing, and I believe that in the course of time its recognition in both the United States and the British Empire will be very widespread. In his speech to the Pilgrims Dr. Murray Butler made a strong plea for the celebration of Magna Charts Day, and he explained why " every English-speaking man in the world should remember it with gratitude as the first formulative beginning of all that underlies, our modern state." Magna Charta Day was fittingly celebrated in the " Meadowland of Runnymede " at a religious service ; massed choirs of the Established and Frce Churches marched in procession from Egham Parish Church.
