The latest report of the British South Africa Company is

a satisfactory one, the profit being 1308,928 against /172,900. Among other things, the report shows that the deficit on the railways, where liabilities under guarantees are being met by advances, is falling, while the traffics have begun to improve considerably. The payment of a dividend against no such declaration a year ago has, of course, fully absorbed the increased profit, and the balance carried forward is somewhat, less than a year ago, but it amounted, none the less, to the substantial figure-of £788,929. A feature of the finances has been the large amounts carried forward each year.
