Ou Wednesday (the 12th instant), the Court of Session held
its arse Winter meeting. All the Judges were present, except Lord Fullerton. Mr. Henry Cockburn then presented his Majesty's letter ; which was read by the Clerk, Mr. George Joseph Bell, the Bench all standing. Mr. Andrew Skene then presented his ; and having taken the oath de „fa& (as Solicitor-General), took his seat within the bar, and was greetN1 by the Court. The Lords then directed the new Judge to take his seat beside Lord Medwyn in the Outer House as Lord Probationer. Lord Medwyn goes to the Second Division of the loner House, in room of Lord Cringletie, resigned.—Caledonian Mercury.
Poor ANDREW SKENE! He is not quite so unlucky as Mr. ROLFE, formerly Member for Penryn and Falmouth ; but very nearly so. He has paid his fees, taken his seat within the bar, received the congratulations of his W big friends ; and now lie finds himself plain Mr. SKENE again, minus cash and plus mortifica- tion. Oh the mutability of worldly things !
