Harrow School has acted on the example sot by Repton
and followed by Eton in starting a journal which, unlike the average school magazine, is devoted to views and not to news. The first number of Beginnings (School Book Shop, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Od.) contains some well-written and thoughtful articles on such topics as the cult of games, Providence, tradition in its good and bad aspects, the Education Bill, and " The Popular in Music "—with an amusing plea for ragtime. If Beginnings can be maintained at this level, the Harrow boys who write for it and who read it will derive no small benefit.
