NATIONAL MUTUAL REPORT.
I referred recently in these columns to the figures of the new business for the past year of the National Mutual Life Assurance Society of London, and the annual Report which has since been published shows that the ratio of expense to premiums was only 13jf per cent. and, in addition to main- taining the high rate of bonus of a year ago, namely, 44s. per cent. a special extra bonus of 6s., making 50s. compound, is allotted to whole-life policies in view of their larger con- tribution to the surplus. Even after paying this increased bonus, the undivided balance carried forward of 1640,206 shows an increase of £44,000.
