Indeed, a criticism of devotional books is hardly within the literary province. But it is one which the present writer can honestly say that he has found fall of the spirit of true devotion, and animated by a certain rare depth and freshness of feeling, which the Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol has quite rightly described in his short preface.
