touched with/ humour of the quietest sort. Of humour, indeed, the Americans have in perfection the two extremes, the most extravagant and the most. restrained. Here we have a graceful specimen of the latter. Exactly in keeping with the text are the illustrations. Qaaint corners of Spanish towns, little glimpses of scenery, characteristics figures and bits of costume, are the subjects, almost all of them showing a skilful and tasteful touch.
