Sir: I read with interest Richard West's article ('Breaking up the school', 10 Octo- ber) concerning the proposed closure of Reydon High School. I fear he misunder- stands the Conservative Government's proposals: were they already on the statute book, the parents and governors of this school could preserve it by the simple expedient of opting out of the state- administered sector.
