Celebrated Cambridge Men. By C. G. Griffinhoofe, M.A. (A. F.
Dixon, Cambridge. 3s. 6d. net.)—Mr. Griffinhoofe begins with William Lyndewode of Lionville and Pembroke (1375-1446), and -ends with Sir Michael Foster of Trinity (1836-1907), though he adds supplementary notices of two adopted sons, Bishop Creighton (1843-1901) and Lord Acton (1834-1902). As he brings about two hundred and fifty notices into about one hundred and seventy pages, his book is something of a catalogue. Still, it contains a great number of dates and other facts which are valuable in their :way, and the general effect is distinctly imposing.
