THE WELSH JURY'S SUPERSTITION.
[To THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR."] SIR,—I have read with interest your article on "Luck," but venture to think that the Welsh jury was (unconsciously, perhaps) following the old law of deodand, rather than super- stition. The reasonableness of forfeiture was no doubt present to their minds, and perhaps the Coroner forgot to tell them that the 9th and 10th Vic., c. 62, declares that the old law " respect- ing chattels which have caused death is inconvenient and un- reasonable," and that after September 1st, 181G, Coroners must not make inquisitions relative to deodands.—I am, Sir, &c.,
CURIOUS.
