The School Attendance Bill In the House of Lords on
Wednesday the School Atten- dance Bill, after a second reading debate lasting two days, was rejected by 168 votes to 22. The issue was never• in doubt. The House as a whole was strongly under the influence of Mr. Snowden's warning against unnecessary expenditure. Mr. Snowden would not himself allow the Lords' action to be a fair application of his doctrine, but the action was none the less a sequel to his words, and it will not be the last.
