Sir William Trelawney is the new Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, in

'the room of the late Earl of Mount-Edgecumbe. This is one of the 'best appointments made by the Whig Government. Sir William is fa thorough Liberal, a high-spirited gentleman, and deservedly popu- lar in his county. We have not forgotten his very handsome be- haviour at the last contested election for East Cornwall.
