Speaking of the Reverend Horace Cholmondeley, the Wexford Independent says—"

This high-minded and warm-hearted Englishman—who may be truly pronounced more Irish than the Irish themselves—on visiting his estates last week,. in this county, not only remitted half a year's rent to the wealthy portion of his tenantry, and a full year's to those less able to bear the pressure of the pest sea- son, but pledged himself to pay the whole of the poor-rate for the future." " He already pays the whole of the rent-charge on his property."

The Limerick Chronicle mentions that the marine lodge at Liscannor, belong- ing to Mr. Charles O'Connell, was pulled down on Saturday night. by a party of wreckers, and the materials were thrown over the cliff into the sea. Mr. 0 nell had given offence by supporting Sir Lucius O'Brien at the recent Clare else tion. The local papers also state that Tervoe House, the seat of Mr. Monsen; ha had, since the election, to be guarded by armed men to prevent a threatenedott- tack by the "moral force" Repeaters.
