LETTERS I mourn Jeff more

Sir: It was just Jeffrey Bernard's luck to die at the same time as Princess Diana, as everyone has said; but it was also strangely fitting. He was an unhappy bad boy made irresistible by charm and good looks, just as she was an unhappy bad girl made irre- sistible by charm and good looks. The dif- ference was that he had self-knowledge, wit and talent, and I'm sure I'm not the only one to mourn him more.
