.Hazcli's Annual (Hazoll, Watson and Viney. Be. Gd. net) is
a very useful combination of directory, history, and gazetteer. We get in it a summary of the events, political, social, and literary, of the year, usual details about statesmen and other persons of distinction, geographical information, Imperial and other, sporting matters, and a mass of other facts.—The English- woman's Year Book, edited by G. E. Mitten (A. and C. Black. 2s. Gd. not.), is specially devoted to the professions and employ- ments generally open to women, to female education, and other kindrod matters. Part II. is devoted to an account of "Philan- thropic and Social Work."
