Scott's Poems : Rokeby. With Introduction, Notes, and Glossary by
R. W. Taylor, M.A. (Rivingtons.)—The editor has divided the work into three parts, each consisting of two cantos, with the object that each may be obtained separately. This has necessitated the placing of a glossary after each canto, instead of at the end of the book. The notes are copious, explaining both the historical and geographical allusions, as well as interpreting difficulties in the text, and are intended to make the poem understood by fairly young students. The glossary is an admirable compilation, and much enhances the value of the work. The derivations and cognate words have been drawn from the best sources, and are reliable.
