INDIA IN TRANSITION - By D. Graham Pole
Major Graham Pole has been in touch with the Indian National Movement all his life, and the focus of its sym- pathizers inside the Parliamentary Labour Party. His book, India in Transition (Hogarth Press. 8s. 6d.), refers to few printed sources, and those inferior ones, notably the Prime Minister's book, The Awakening of India, which, of course, is out of date, and is probably quoted mainly with polemical purpose, as showing how-far beyond what has hitherto seemed feasible Mr. Ramsay MacDonald has committed himself. India in Transition is really a handbook to the political controversy, written in paragraphs with headings. Thisarrangement, unfortunately, though useful, is not very interesting, though, it falls in with the natural dryness of the author's mind and style.
