Stanhope. By E. L. Haverfield. (T. Nelson and Sons. 3s.
6d.) —This "Romance of the Days of Cromwell" is written with con- siderable vigour, is well constructed and interesting, giving to the scenes and characters described a reality which the historical romance does not always attain. The fortunes of Dorothy are so contrived as to make an effective surprisa. Altogether, Stanhope stands above the average of these tales.
