SIR,—In your issue of April 17, 1964, 'Spectator's Notebook' drew

attention to 'examples of two kinds of corruption of the language.' The final sentence of the paragraph on 'Absentee Voters,' with the substitu- tion of 'will' for 'shall,' illustrates another corrupt usage which is regrettably becoming common practice.
