Sir: I find the letter from Mrs Shelford (Letters, 25 May) incomprehensible. I quote from Captain She!ford's own book, Subsunk, page 113. 'A squadron of Fri- gates fitted with the latest submarine de- tection devices and commanded by Cap- tain Roy Foster Brown formed the main searching force'. Andrew Roberts's origin- al article (`Affray in the Channel', 27 April) was entirely correct.
