Sovereignty

Sir: I am surprised that The Spectator is so disturbed by the possibility of a loss of sovereignty due to the country remaining in the EEC when all the time there is a much greater threat to the supremacy of Parliament from powerful groups within the nation. The Communist Part is apparently not interested nowadays in getting members into the House of Commons because it can operate from other bases. The danger to national sovereignty from EEC is slight compared to the erosion it is suffering from the actions of those whose declared policy is not merely to check the powers of parliament but destroy its authority. I have been reading The Spectator now for forty-seven years and have until now always felt it had a sense of proportion. Is that too being eroded? John A.
