We have to express our regret for a mistake in

the paper of last week concerning the Theological Chair in Edinburgh Uni- versity to which Dr. Wallace has been appointed. In that paper we said that the late Professor of Ecclesiastical, History (Dr. Stevenson) had himself taken a somewhat bitter part in the opposition to the appointment of his successor. In so saying we committed an error, due to the identity of the name. The ex- Professor (Dr. William Stevenson) is in Italy, and we are assured is not one likely to have at all approved the action of his namesake, Dr. R. Horne Stevenson, who is the minister of St. George's Church, Edinburgh.
