Gibberish corner
Sir: Your printers made a nonsense of the first paragraph of my last week's letter about the meanderings of your television critic.
What I actually wrote was:
Your television critic says that in the Did You See? discussion that followed the show- ing of Brimstone and Treacle, Mr Alasdair Milne popped up for a few moments 'but made no serious contribution to anything'. In fact he made no contribution at all, since he didn't pop up and wasn't there.
By omitting the words from 'to anything' to 'contribution', the sense of what I wrote was reduced to gibberish.
