Sir: May I be among the first to record my relief upon hearing of the defeat of the English football team in Oslo? The gallant Norwegian team has done more than rescue Spain from the onslaught of England's beery rowdies next year. It has also protected the rest of us from a seemingly endless 12 months of pointless interviews, deathless metaphors and aimless excitement.
