BAD LANGUAGE.

Six,—In reply to " Civil Servant's question, the reputed author of " I feel a feeling which I feel that you all feel " was the late Dr. Ridding, Head-Master of Winchester and afterwards Bishop of Southwell. Dr. Ridding's written style was by no means simple, and his extempore style was notoriously -complex. He used to tie himself up in knots and to try to get out of them with much repetition of the same word. I remember some forty years ago hearing an address-in which he made much play with the word "to feel." For long after the ingenuity of some of his hearers was devoted to devising variations of the theme in the Head- Master's well-known accents.—I am, Biz, &es S.
