WATER-BOTTLES AND FIRES.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR." J SIR,—Twice in my life I have met with cases of a fire being caused by globular water-bottles acting as burning-glasses. In one case, which I witnessed myself, the toilet-cover was set fire to ; in the other it was a window-curtain, on which the sun's rays were made to converge.
