We note with interest that 'the Times in its Thursday's
issue sets Lord Derby a new task, that of unravelling the whole tangle of our official relations with the American Press. Probably the tangle is not now quite as bad as it is sometimes represented, but as to Lord Derby's powers of sur- -mee.uiting the entanglements: of oxen worse bathed ..wiree.We;
have little or no doubts. Ho is a diplomatist of the best sort, because he inspires confidence, and inspires it not by art or finesse or a hypnotic cheem. which is soon dispelled, but by sincerity of mind as Hell as of manner. Besides, Leis a gentle. man all through, and not merely in parts.
