We have received the annual volume of The Reliquary and
Illustrated Archaeologist, Edited by the Rev. J. Charles Cox, LL.D., XIV. of New Series (Bemrose and Sons, 12s. net). This, we may remind our readers, is a quarterly journal, devoted to Christian and pagan archaeology; indeed, we may say, to human archaeology as a whole, for nothing could be wider in scope than" the develop- ment of the arts and industry of man in the past ages." The first. article is the "Treasure of Sant' Antonio" at Padua, a splendid
collection of goldsmith's and silversmith's work which has survived not a few dangers. Farther on we find an account of Abo, the ancient capital of Finland, an article containing some curious revelations or allegations under the title of "Treasure Trove," the "Pro-Norman Crosses in Craven," and "Wiltshire Bronzes." These are mentioned to give an idea of tho variety of the contents. The "Archaeological Notes" deal with a great number of subjects, and the archaeological literature of the day is discussed in the reviews.
