A meeting was held at Manchester, in the Town-hall, on

Thursday, to petition the Queen not to prorogue Parliament until the question of relief for the popular distress has been discussed. Some opposition was offered to the proceedings by the Chairman of a Conservative Asso- ciation, but it was trifling, and wholly unsuccessful.
