Sir: Oh dear; the unthinking Establishment (science establishment) line (Scenes from science, 20 October). The most interesting thing about the trial surveys on sexual behaviour was that, like all others I have ever heard of, there was a, gross disparity between the sexes. One tria claimed that the average man enjoys 11 women, while the average woman only has three lovers; the other was not quite so extreme. Variouspersons, such as John Maddox seem to have accepted this ail: questioningly. But sex is a one to and activity between man and woman, an of there are approximately equal numbers each in Britain.
We are left with two possibilities. Firstly that about three quarters of British Ma sexuality is expressed outside Britain: Secondly, that the error produced by
