Sir: Sir John Biggs-Davison (Letters, 4 July) says 'Non sequitur' to Stephen Robinson's assertion that any Unionist would in time lose South Down because of its natural Catholic majority.

As Enoch Powell, an Anglican Unionist, did in fact lose to a Roman Catholic Nationalist perhaps it is a case of `res ipsa loquitur'?
