SIR,—May we ask the courtesy of your columns to invite

young men and women who would like to spend their summer holidays working in Israel and seeing the country to apply for a Bridge Scholarship. These enable selected applicants aged between eighteen and thirty to visit Israel for a period of not less than six weeks. A month of this time is spent working in summer camps with underprivileged children, many of whom are recent immigrants from countries all over the world. This period is followed by a tour of Israel and by a few days spent living with an ordinary Israeli family. We especially need people who can teach a craft, a'hobby or a sport but

the sole essential is desire to create goodwill between Britain and Israel and a willingness to work where required. Any knowledge of languages, particularly of French, is helpful.

We should be grateful if any who feel attracted by this proposal would write without delay for further details and application form to 'The Bridge in Britain,' 28 Manchester Street, London, WI, enclosing a stamped, addressed, foolscap envelope.
