The War Game

SIR,—I find some of your comments in 'Spectator's Notebook' on the BBC's decision not to show The War Game on television somewhat confusing. If, as Editor of the SPECTATOR, you commissioned an article which, when you saw it, you decided not to print you would, according to your own argument, be acting as 'Auntie Spectator' and withholding from the public something they had a right to read if they wished.

[NIGEL LAWSON writes 'I can assure Sir Hugh that when I consider an article for publication in the SPECTATOR I decide either that it is good enough for all our readers to see or else that it is not good enough for any of them. I do not arrange for a limited edition to be printed and circulated among a chosen few.']
