Si,—There are many constituencies, notably divisions of Home Counties, where
the return of a Liberal is practically out of the question. Might it not be possible in many such cases to arrange for the Conservative seat, if also Protectitmist, being contested by a Free-trade Unionist ? With the solid Liberal vote, and the support of many Unionists who could not bring themselves to support a Liberal, the seat might be captured for Free-trade.—I am, Sir, &o., H. H.
