There is to intelligible news from Spain. Some dark intrigue
is going on, and while it matures, General Manuel Concha inspects -the enemy, and the Carlists inspect him, and officers of both armies have comfortable afternoon conferences, and Spain goes to the devil in the most satisfactory and chivalric manner. There is plenty of patriotism in Spain, but apparently no strength of will equal to informing Pretenders of all kinds that they must await a clear national verdict, peacefully given, under penalty of execution
as filibusteros.
