Bosom count

Sir: Both Jane Russell and the nameless lady referred to in Theodore Dalrymple's column (10 September) would have just reason to be proud possessors of 'bosoms'. Despite any visual impression to the con- trary, Miss Russell (and indeed all women) are supplied by our divine maker with two breasts, but only one bosom. Perhaps the relevant page from Dr Dalrymple's anato- my textbook, at whichever great teaching hospital he attended, was missing.
