The Governor-General of Canada has announced that the Prince of

Wales will visit that country at no distant date. This is. only a fair response to the known and long-tried loyalty of the British North American colonists. It is a solid compliment they fully deserve, and well would it have been for us if we had at an earlier period shown more attention not only to the political necessities, but to the social instincts of our American country- men. It is fitting that the heir apparent of Queen Victoria should see face to face not the least valuable community of his future subjects.
