Isis worship

Sir: Mr Hollis misses certain points.

As author of a book about Isis I naturally hope your readers (including some expert Catholic theologians) will take to heart what is written there, especially towards the end.

My friend Professor Wells and I have not put our heads together to bring out a composite work. Comments on the views he expresses in his own book and in his letter to The Spectator are for him to deal with himself as he pleases. He and I are not necessarily presenting the same case, though we agree about the need for the closest inquiry into the origins of the Church.

Mr Hollis declares: The diSci ples of Isis . . did not die for their beliefs." Giordano Bruno, I point out in my last chapter, because of his Egyptianizing ' heresies ' was burnt at the stake by Mr Hollis's Church.
