Shiva Naipaul

IT IS with great sadness that we record the sudden death on Tuesday of Shiva Naipaul. Mr Naipaul, who was 40, was one of the finest writers of the present time and one of the most distinguished contributors to the Spectator. His widow, Jenny, has worked on the editorial staff of the paper for several years. We shall publish a full tribute to Shiva Naipaul next week.
