Sra,—Your article under the above heading has supplied me with the needed inspiration. I am placed in circumstances of some difficulty, having had, through ill-health, to retire into the country, with my wife, who is paralysed and dependent upon my personal attention. But, thanks to you, Sir, I realize that although we have entered upon the last phase of the war, its glory and success depend in no small measure upon us Older men. We may or may not have been needed in the past; undoubtedly we are needed now. Let us all therefore respond enthusi- astically to the call, and set free our Regular Army to wind up this Cerman business. I am about to do so, and sign myself, Sir, ONE OF THE LAST PHASE.
