It would appear that the spirit of reform is not
entirely dead in Italy. Some time ago, a band of persons, to the horror and astonishment of the Magnates, carried a tri-coloured flag through the principal streets of Florence for three hours. The procession was accompanied by bands of music, and followed by all the work- men and idlers of the city. The police have been carefully search- ing for the drums and flags ever since, but they have not been able to find them. The cries,, it is said, were not against the reign- ing Duke; they . were merely "Liberty," "Constitution." It would appear, however, that the reigning Duke is against the cries.
